At age 3 Dr. Young decided to be a doctor, but was sidetracked into a successful design career, before eventually returning to her first love, animals. After graduating from Michigan State University, Dr. Young happily returned to her hometown of New York City to practice veterinary medicine. While working as an associate in Brooklyn, Dr. Young began making pro-bono house calls to some of Juliet’s clients which ultimately led to the formation of Hope Vet. Dr. Young is a member of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association. The cats, dog, turtles and fish who share her home are a major joy and influence for her practice. When not at Hope Vet, she enjoys gardening, bicycling and house restoration. |

Juliet Sternberg was born and raised in London, England. As a teenager she fell in love with dairy cows and initially pursued a career in dairy farming before factory farming methods became intolerable to her. She came to the U.S. in 1989 and to New York in 1993. She obtained her MSW degree from Fordham University in 2002. Prior to launching Hope Veterinary Clinic, Juliet had 10 years of experience in mental health and geriatric case management and counseling. Working with clients who had pets persuaded her of the positive impact that companion animals have on the needs and wellbeing of humans, and of the paucity of veterinary services in social work, and social work services in veterinary medicine. Juliet is the founder and co-chair of the New York City group Social Workers Advancing the Human Animal Bond. Juliet lives with 7 cats, one dog, 2 turtles, a whole bunch of pond fish and some noisy frogs In her leisure time she enjoys cycling, baking, and passionately follows the fortunes of Liverpool F.C. and the Yankees. |
